Sonia Bitca was born in Romania. She has a master’s degree in multimedia design. After working a dozen years in the field of IT, she chooses to do something different and joins the Royal Canadian Navy as a cook.
First she kept pen and paper close, at the beginning because of the innate need for sketching and creating lists. Later, in her college years, she stumbled upon beautiful diaries borrowed by designer friends, a mix of calligraphy and illustration, obsessive artistic research mixed with love declarations and young adult existential dilemmas. That’s how she adopted the habit of putting down the thoughts assaulting her. It is easy and it doesn’t feel like wasting friends’ time. There’s enough paper and enough bytes to support all those pointless speculations.
That is how a handful of notes grew in a book thanks to a couple of friends asking for her news and loyally reading the chronicle of her perception of an episode her body imposes on her.
When not sailing, she lives in beautiful Quebec City, Canada.
